Empowering the next generation of fisheries professionals
As part of its ongoing mission to give back to the communities that support its operations, GenoMar has launched two initiatives under the GenoMar Tilapia Knowledge Outreach Program:
- The GenoMar Financial Assistance Program (GFAP)
- The GenoMar Apprenticeship Program (GAP)
Both programs are made possible through a strategic partnership with the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) ā College of Fisheries. This university is one of the leading institutions in fisheries education and research in the Philippines.
GenoMar Financial Assistance Program
The GFAP is a scholarship program for CLSU College of Fisheries students who have completed their first year of the Bachelor of Science. It provides meaningful financial support to deserving scholars, covering both semesters of the academic year. This financial assistance helps ease their burden and allows them to focus on their studies and personal growth. The program is open to students who show both academic promise and financial need, ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.
On September 7, 2026, GenoMar held its awarding ceremony at the College of Fisheries, CLSU. The event was attended by CLSU faculty and staff, alongside GenoMar personnel, marking a significant moment of collaboration between the academic institution and the private sector.
Mr. Vincent A. Camus was awarded GFAP scholarship. Vincent is a promising student who has shown dedication to his studies and a genuine passion for fisheries. His selection marks the beginning of what GenoMar envisions as a long-term commitment to supporting talented students.
A word from our scholar
“I am deeply grateful to GenoMar for this opportunity. College is not easy, and there were times when I worried about how we would afford my education. But this scholarship has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and inspires me to work even harder. I hope that one day, I too can give back and help other students the way GenoMar has helped me. Maraming salamat po!”

GenoMar Apprenticeship Program
Complementing the scholarship program is the GenoMar Apprenticeship Program, or GAP, which is tailored specifically for fresh graduates of the CLSU College of Fisheries. Recognizing the common mismatch between the skills of newly graduated students and the expectations of potential employers, this program was created to bridge that gap. The students improve their skills and employability through practical training and real-world experience. The program also aims to address the shortage of skilled workers in the local aquaculture industry by producing job-ready graduates.
The GAP is a five-month paid training program that immerses apprentices in various aspects of aquaculture operations. This includes research, breeding, automated data collection, hatchery management, pond and feeding management, artificial incubation and fish processing. Apprentices receive a training fee, free meals and snacks, and free accommodation when applicable. Twice every year, three fresh graduates are selected to participate, with a genuine chance of being hired permanently. This initiative not only benefits the apprentices but also helps GenoMar build a pipeline of well-trained future employees.
Mr. Jayson V. Bernabe, a fresh graduate of CLSU, is the third apprentice under the GAP since the program started in 2022. His onboarding marks another significant milestone in the company’s community outreach efforts and sets the stage for future batches of apprentices.
A word from our apprentice
“I am truly grateful to be part of this program. As a fresh graduate, I was worried about what comes next after college, but this opportunity has given me so much hope. I am learning real-world skills that I know will help me become a better fisheries professional. The team has been very supportive, and I feel like I am growing every day. Thank you, GenoMar, for believing in us fresh graduates.”

Through GFAP and GAP, GenoMar continues to fulfill its broader mission of responsible and sustainable aquaculture by investing in education and skills development. These programs empower deserving students and fresh graduates to achieve their academic and professional goals. It strengthens the local talent pool in fisheries and aquaculture, and give back to the communities that have been part of GenoMar’s journey in the Philippines.
GenoMar looks forward to expanding both programs, reaching more students and fresh graduates, both from CLSU and other academic institutions.
A message from GenoMar
