On 7 September 2026, GenoMar Genetics Vietnam Company Limited received Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for its production of tilapia fingerlings. The certification is awarded under the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) program, one of the aquaculture industry’s most recognized and rigorous certification programs.
BAP hatchery certification
The BAP Hatchery Standard sets stringent requirements to promote sustainable aquaculture practices, with key criteria covering:
- Food Safety
- Social Accountability
- Environmental Responsibility
- Animal Health and Welfare
- Traceability
Independent bodies conduct audits to verify compliance with BAP standards through site inspections, sampling, and record reviews. The BAP certification was performed by Control Union Services SAC.
This certification demonstrates GenoMar’s commitment to produce tilapia fingerlings in a safe and responsible manner during the hatchery phase, up to delivery to the farmers.

Towards certification in all GenoMar facilities
The hatchery in Vietnam is our second BAP certified location after the hatchery in Malaysia. We continue to work on strengthening biosecurity and welfare standards across our other units. At the same time we are advancing in the pursuit of external certifications that recognize the quality and responsibility of our production processes. This elevates our mission in responsible aquaculture and supports our efforts to meet the evolving expectations of global markets.
